One of the best things to help your tomatoes thrive is companion planting! Many companion plants attract beneficial insects, help to repel pests, and can even improve soil fertility.

Here are 8 beneficial plants to help your tomatoes thrive this season!

Basil Enhances the flavor of tomatoes and repels pests such as whiteflies, aphids, and hornworms. Basil is a great herb that you can use fresh or dry.

Parsley is another favorite of mine! I find myself adding to almost every dinner! Parsley attracts beneficial insects and can serve as a natural pest repellent.

Garlic Is my absolute favorite to use in all sorts of dishes and it’s great at repelling spider mites and aphids and can deter some fungal diseases. Onions are also great at helping to repel spider mites.

Beans help to fix nitrogen in the soil, which can benefit tomatoes and other plants nearby.

Marigolds aren’t my personal favorite, they are great for the garden!  They release a substance that deters nematodes and repels various garden pests.

Nasturtiums are a lovely flower to have around your garden! They attract beneficial insects and help to repel aphids, whiteflies, and other pests.

We just planted “Zeolights Calendula” in front of the barn and will be adding them near the garden as well this season! They are great at attracting pollinators!
